I’ve been the musical director for the Soul Legend Solomon Burke for more than thirty years and I have played all over the world pretty much, we performed for the for the Eastern Block when the wall came down in 1989, and has performed for hundreds of thousands of people through out the world. I pay my bills by being an Artist/ Musician and that means I must stay on the road much of the time.
I’ve seen a lot of different changes through out my years of performing, I first went out on the road in 1963, playing through out the south in the sixties were some pretty trying times being an African American. At that time we didn’t have the freedoms as we have today. I have a lot of stories I could tell, some of them funny and some of them not so funny. Music has been my life for all of my life, I first picked up the guitar in 1957 and have been playing the Blues every since.
The biggest misconception in the Denver scene is some people think of you as a local / vocal simply because you choose to live in Denver but I guess if you lived in Las Vegas you would be a local / vocal as well. Over all Denver is a great place to live I was born and raised here and have lived a lot of other places but Denver is home and there is a lot of good people here that love the Blue.
